Exciting, tasty and healthy food - a vital ingredient for a successful school

Healthy eating is at the very heart of our approach to catering at King Edward's. We wholeheartedly encourage the move towards a healthier lifestyle and work hard to establish balanced eating patterns. With a large percentage of our pupil population boarding, an exciting, healthy and varied menu is imperative.

Holroyd Howe independent caterers provide all the meals at King Edward's.  The menu is fresh, contemporary, nutritionally balanced and sourced locally. The self-service buffet allows students to choose from two main meals a day as well as home-made soup, a range of salads, hot and cold dishes - with a vegetarian option and also a healthy option (such as chargrilled chicken); a pasta bar; fruit; yoghurts and other puddings.  The day is given a kick-start with a cooked English breakfast, a choice of cereals, toast and croissants. Mid-morning and mid-afternoon (home-made) snacks help fill any gaps.

Innovation is the key to maintaining interest in the food we serve and we offer an ever-changing selection of traditional, international and ethnic dishes, so that children can benefit from a balanced diet that is fun and varied.  Themed meals are organised to coincide with Chinese New Year, St Patrick's Day, the Football World Cup and many others.

Staff and students eat together in our dining hall.

In addition to this, the Houses contain kitchens where students are able to help themselves to tea, toast and fruit.

For special diets and allergies, email our Catering Manager on catering@kesw.org who will be happy to help.
