A wealth of musical opportunities for all
Our busy, thriving and well-resourced department is housed in the purpose-built Countess of Munster Music School and located at the heart of King Edward's Witley.
Class music is taught weekly in the first three years and aims to give all pupils the opportunity to explore a wide variety of musical genres and styles. The course gives pupils the chance to develop their musical skills and understanding through an exciting and varied programme ranging from European to World Music, as well as more contemporary styles. A specially constructed curriculum enables each pupil to achieve their potential. Link to curriculum The School has excellent resources including a Mac Suite with Sibelius, Logic Pro and recording and editing facilities. Pupils can choose to study Music at GCSE, IB and A-level (from September 2016).
Music flourishes outside the classroom some twenty choirs and instrumental ensembles rehearsing weekly. The Knapton Cavill Bursary offers all students at 11+ and 13+ the opportunity to learn an orchestral instrument for half a year, with the opportunity to extend this for pupils who demonstrate potential and are keen to continue to develop their love of learning. Please see details of musical opportunities outside of the curriculum in the Co-curriculum section.
