Edward House

Edward House Motto

Every boy matters, every boy has something to offer, every boy is important, and every boy is worth listening to.

Edward House is a very relaxed genuinely friendly place, and is a purposeful environment where boys value work and respect each other as individuals. On a pupil level, the House is led by a brilliant team of Prefects who are there to support everyone and help run the House as smoothly as possible. Pupils, new and old, please know that you can ask for help or assistance with anything; the Prefects are kind and approachable. Edward is also lucky enough to have an established tutor team, there to help any Edward boy at any given time. We are also blessed to have Mrs. Tobias as our matron. Her famous baking skills and mouthwatering lemon drizzle cake are celebrated indulgences!

The Tobias family

As a family, they previously lived in Bath for 15 years, where their sons both attended Monkton Prep. Mr Tobias knows Surrey well as he grew up in Ham Common, Richmond, Mrs Tobias originally heralds from Blackheath, Greenwich.

The Tobias' are delighted to lead Edward House forward for our fourth year in 2019-20, and will continue to plan many social events throughout the calendar, in order to bond as a House. At points in the term there will be rotating ‘Year group’ in-house events in the Tobias' home for the boys when they will be offered pizza and cake…cooked by Mrs Tobias! This year, as a House, we have been paintballing and we also visited Wembley Stadium to watch England v Brazil, which was great fun! There have also been several house BBQs and film nights. We also hold events for parents, and have recently enjoyed coffee mornings and cheese and wine evenings when we socialize on a more informal, fun basis!

In 2019, we won the House Drama, House Football, House Swimming, House Hockey, House Basketball and House Cricket competitions all contributing to the Cockhouse Cup. We were also runners up in the House Music and House Cross Country events. A really great year!

In Edward, we pride ourselves on excellent academic work. Tom Keary broke the IB record last year securing an amazing 44/45 in his IB diploma - an amazing school record. All the U6th passed their diploma and are going on to great universities like Durham, UCL and Kings, London. We also had some very talented new actors and musicians join us in 2018, so the future looks bright in every department!

The most recent addition to the Tobias' family is Basil the Dalmatian who is now officially the Edward mascot!

The most treasured aspect of Edward though is not a trophy but a happy pupil and we ‘judge’ ourselves by the well-being factor in Edward. One thing is for sure, if you’re an Edward boy, you will be a part of a team of young men who are genuinely friendly and supportive towards each other. Intelligence and compassion are vital attributes, but kindness is valued above all things.

Go karting

Edward House went on their House trip to Absolute Karting in Maidenhead on Sunday 20 January. Mr Tobias and Mr Skau raced, but the winning time was L6th pupil Justin Oberbeckmann. Lots of fun for all!
