Becoming informed, thoughtful and responsible citizens

Leadership and service help to provide pupils with the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to play an effective role in society at local, national and international levels. Such opportunities help them to become more informed, thoughtful and responsible citizens who are aware of both their duties and rights.

At King Edward’s School we encourage pupils to play a helpful part in the life of their own House and School, in the local community and the wider world. In the Lower School the Adventure Service Challenge scheme encourages them to look beyond their own needs and show concern for others, and gives them opportunities for helping those in need. As the pupils move up through the School they become more aware of how leadership and service feature in their lives, and gradually they take on these roles themselves.

A very wide range of opportunities can be found at King Edward’s and all pupils will be able to find a niche in which their own interests, skills and personalities can be put to good use.

A list of such opportunities includes:
First Aid, Life Saving, Medical Centre Prefect, School Bank, Senior Citizen’s Christmas Party, Charities Committee, Chapel Prefect, Sports Centre Prefect, School Prefect, House Prefect, House Mediation, prospective parent tours, School Council, Food Committee, Matron’s Prefect, Team Captains, House Drama and Music, Learning Prefect, Music Prefect, Overseas Pupils Leader, Head of House, Captain of Sport
