Science Lectures
“A force to be reckoned with.”

For the past 12 years, King Edward’s has hosted a series of Autumn Science Lectures for local primary and preparatory schools. We can always guarantee a full house for each of the four presentations given by former professional actor and teacher, Peter Joyce, and more than 600 children are thrilled by the animated and amusing lectures.
Peter’s passion and commitment to making some of the scientific concepts of Key Stage II science more understandable has resulted in his characterisations of both Sir Isaac Newton and Professor Galileo Galilei, who take it in turns to visit King Edward’s.
His spellbound audience nearly jumps out of their skins when Sir Isaac hurls a full bucket of water around to demonstrate the power of centrifugal force. Or if Galileo shares the secrets of the universe, he will ensure that each child that comes to hear him will long remember the lively and dramatic performance, bringing science to life in a simple and effective way.
