Each pupil’s needs for support are identified though assessment. The appropriate support for the pupil is then provided by specialist EAL teachers either on a one to one basis or to pupils of the same level in small groups.

There is close liaison between EAL teachers and subject teachers to ensure that pupils receive all the support they need to enable them to have full access to the curriculum.

The Fifth Form Pre-IB course gives pupils special preparation in the skills required to tackle the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Sixth Form. EAL pupils have a choice of either taking English Language and Literature GCSEs or taking IGCSE ESOL.
