Conservation
Around and about in the School's 100 acres

This activity takes place in the School's woodlands.
The aim is to increase the biodiversity within the woodlands which requires felling some of the many silver birch to give more space to other trees and increase light to the woodland floor. The activity takes place during autumn and spring and there is ample opportunity to observe the changing life in the woods. Woodpiles encourage invertebrates and fungi are prolific in the autumn. As part of the Conservation activity charcoal is made with the wood that has been felled.
