A very popular summer term sport
We have our own grass track and teach all field and track events throughout the summer in the PE and games programmes.The Summer term sees a fantastic Inter-house athletics competition.
We compete in a local schools fixtures list and elite athletes have the opportunity to try out for County Honours and represent Surrey.

Badminton

The school plays friendly and league fixtures against schools such as Charterhouse, Guildford Royal Grammar School, Wilson's and Caterham.
The most popular age group is U18 but we are hoping to expand to younger age groups and to create a girls' team.

Basketball
Basketball is popular with all cultures within the School – South American, Eastern European, American, Asian and British
We have basketball teams as follows: Boys: U13, U15, U16, U18 and Girls: U16, playing regular fixtures against other schools. The boys won over half of their fixtures and the girls won all of theirs.
For the past two years the school has been coached by members of the Guildford Heat basketball team.

Cricket
As England’s summer game, and a truly wonderful way to spend an afternoon, cricket is a popular and well participated sport and pastime here at King Edward’s
We are especially lucky to have such excellent facilities in a beautiful woodland setting where the crack of leather on willow can be heard from all around the campus.
We run teams at all age groups (Under 13, 14, 15 and senior cricket including a 1st and 2nd XI) in a very competitive schools programme on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons as well as an excellent house competition. Cricket is also taught as part of the PE and games curriculum.

The School has received Chartered Standard status from the Football Association and is a member of the Independent Schools FA
All pupils are encouraged to participate, whatever their ability levels and the School runs teams at every age group with fixtures in the Autumn term.

Golf
Golf takes place throughout the year on a Wednesday afternoon
Whether you are a beginner or more experienced, it is an activity all pupils can choose.
The School has a corporate membership of Milford Golf Club and an association with West Surrey Golf Club. Both courses are two miles away from the School in the beautiful Surrey Hills area of the county.

We are fortunate to have an excellent astroturf for matches and practice.

Indoor Rowing
A relative new competitive sport that has been embraced fully by staff and students at King Edward's
Teams are entered annually in the Concept 2 indoor rowing leagues and a good deal of success has been achieved, with three gold medals, 2 silver and 4 bronze in the last 4 years.
It is also a sport that is inclusive of all ages and sexes with the girls enjoying as much competition and success as the boys.

Netball
Netball is our main girls' sport in the Spring Term
The School is represented by 1st, 2nd, U15, U14, U13a and U13b teams.
Although Netball is played throughout the spring term pupils are given preseason training throughout the Autumn term. Pupils receive expert coaching by our Netball coach Hannah Lewis.

Rounders
The Summer term welcomes the start of the girls’ Rounders season for students throughout the School
The School has three grass playing pitches where students learn to play rounders.
It forms part of the curriculum and then girls compete in matches, forming an integral part of the summer sport programme.

Tennis - boys and girls
We run tennis teams for boys and girls in the summer term, supported by professional coaching.
However training continues throughout the year, with coaching being provided by teaching staff after school, as well as by a visiting professional coach.
The School has the advantage of an excellent floodlit astroturf surface with 9 courts for use throughout the summer. In addition there are 6 hard courts, which are used during the winter months, together with an indoor court in the Sports Hall, which is used in the evening.
