Girls’ Football

16th December 2022

Girls’ football has thrived this year at KESW, with girls competing from 1st form all the way through to Upper 6th Form Pupils. Girls’ football as a whole have only lost two games throughout the whole season – very impressive! All age groups have more games after Christmas, in which they can build on this outstanding record.

U13’s

The U13’s team have progressed nicely, winning their cup game and getting into the latter stages of the Surrey County Cup. The energy and enthusiasm the girls have for football and seeing them play with a smile on their faces, makes every coaching session worthwhile. They listen to everything they are told, and their footballing skills have developed a lot. The standout players for the U13’s are Jocelyn Earl and Lily Purcell but the energy and athleticism from Heidi Klein and Scarlett Haine cannot be underestimated.

U15’s

The U15’s have had a lot of players playing up in the 1st XI which is an outstanding achievement for these girls. Robyn Kersey, Nariman Hashem and April Klein have been the standout players, Robyn and Nariman show incredible composure on the ball in the middle of midfield, which allows the team to be dangerous with every attack. April has shown great bravery in the middle of defence and nullifies any danger that comes her way. The work rate and enthusiasm of Tilly Vautier supplies the team with an outlet going forward, but also stability in defence.

The 1st XI have had a real mix of players over the course of the season, due to injuries and younger players being unavailable to play. However, whoever has come in has given absolutely everything when they are playing and we cannot ask for anything more than that. The core of the team with Jess Foulston, Francisca Von Gilsa De Duarte E Fragoso and Leonie Majewski, provide real stability through the middle of the pitch. The technical ability of Francisca allows the team to have good possession of the ball and are always a threat going forward. The work rate, aggressiveness and skill of Jess provides the team real impetus in attack and defence. Leonie has been a goal scoring machine upfront, scoring crucial goals. Ines Bermudez Zaragoza has been the most improved player this year, her effort and enthusiasm has allowed her to develop into a well-rounder footballer.
