It is a School with its roots anchored firmly in the local and wider community.

As well as making its facilities available to local groups, there is an extensive programme of events for local schools including the VivArtis Arts Festival, Science and Technology workshops and several sporting tournaments.  King Edward's is the Surrey base for Elite Football.

Pupils and staff are active in supporting local charities, such as the St Christopher Children's Hospice in Guildford and MacMillan Cancer Support, as well as international causes with regular visits to Malawi, Thailand and Nepal.
