"Some Enchanted Evening"

This is a fitting way to describe the highly successful KESPA Summer Ball for parents, leavers and OW’s that was held at the School on Friday 8th July.

The huge amount of planning and work that the KESPA committee had made months beforehand was certainly worthwhile and the guests were stunned by the decorations in the Selborne Room and the adjoining areas. They had transformed the room with the addition of giant multicoloured star lights suspended from the ceiling, artificial trees with pink lights around the room and the individual tables had white lit twigs as centre pieces. The effect was truly enchanting.

Some 180 guests arrived to be greeted by a welcome glass of champagne and the beautiful playing of a harpist. The early evening sun meant that most people stayed outside in the Selborne Quad and what a contrast this was to the persistent rain earlier in the day.

Some 180 guests arrived to be greeted by a welcome glass of champagne and the beautiful playing of a harpist. The early evening sun meant that most people stayed outside in the Selborne Quad and what a contrast this was to the persistent rain earlier in the day.

The meal was served in the Selborne room consisting of a delicious smoked salmon starter and a main course of pig roast, which had been cooking all day in the 6th Form Quad. Diners, whilst queuing for their main course, were entertained by the boy band “Skylarks.” Participants were then spoilt for choice, as there were two stands of cup cakes, two chocolate fountains and a table full of cheeses.

After the meal there were several things to do and many of the 6th Form tried their skills on the Bucking Bronco. Music was provided by the Skylarks and then by DJ Howard Williams. The dance floor, in the especially erected marquee, was packed and in the end everyone left wanting more.

This was a delightful end of the school year and it was good to see so many leavers, their parents, friends and staff enjoying themselves.
