School choir leads Bridewell Day Service
Last week the School celebrated Bridwell Day, its annual foundation day, in the City of London.

A service of thanksgiving took place in St. Bride's Church, in the heart of the City of London and was attended by a large number of pupils, as well as staff and dignitaries from the City, including the Lord Mayor Locum Tenens, Sir David Howard.
The service was brought to life by the School's choir as it sang the anthems 'Gloria' by Vivaldi and 'O Though, the Central Orb' by Charles Wood, led by Stephen Pedlar, the School's Precentor, in his last Bridewell Service before retirement. Reports from the congregation were that the choir sounded magnificent - a fitting tribute to his many years of work as the School's Director of Music and more recently as choir master.

Following Vivaldi's Gloria, the Head Boy, Boss Michaiynunt, read The Lesson, a piece from Ezekiel. The Service's sermon was given by The Revd. Canon Dr Robin Ward, Principal of St. Stephen's House, Oxford and this was followed by The Thanksgiving by the Headmaster, Mr John Attwater.
After the service, the congregation were invited to Guildhall to have lunch and witness three new Bridewell Fellows being presented with their medals, as a recognition of the contribution they have made to supporting the Bridewell Foundation, the School's charity, which provides much bursary funding.
