Tutoring
The tutor system is an important and integral part of the educational process for each child

We have recently introduced a system of vertical tutoring in the Senior Houses, whereby pupils are tutored in co-educational groups of children ranging from 3rd Form to Upper Sixth. This aligns well with our House system and helps us to achieve the very best standards of pastoral care.
The natural social grouping allows for leadership and mentoring opportunities for the older pupils and aspirational role models for the younger ones. All are able to benefit from an exchange of experience, increased intellectual challenge and a strengthening of relationships between year groups.
Tutor groups meet twice a week to discuss School and House issues, service opportunities, charity issues, academic enrichment and much more. Tutors see their tutees outside the tutor group on a regular basis for one to one meetings to consider academic targets and follow up any issues arising from their studies. Pupils will remain with the same tutor, where possible, throughout their time at King Edward’s, providing continuity for them and their families.
