Pre-IB Curriculum
A firm foundation

This course is tailored towards overseas pupils and those seeking to relocate to the United Kingdom and provides a one-year programme that gives a combination of national 16+ qualifications and preparation for the IB Diploma.
The main purpose is to allow for the development of language skills and the acquisition of thinking and learning skills that are required on the IB course. However, a good range of examination entries is available for those who want or require it.The curriculum is formed as follows:

| English | 5 | Either a one-year GCSE Language course (for native speakers) or English as an Additional Language, including some literature, for non-native speakers. An IGCSE in English as a second language is possible. |
| Maths | 5 | Aiming usually for IGCSE. |
| Science | 9 | Shared equally between all three sciences with the possibility of a GCSE in additional science. |
| Language | 5 | A choice between French, German, Spanish or Latin (according to previous experience), all with the possibility of a GCSE; integration with the rest of the year group in French / German. |
| Humanity | 10 | History, Geography, Economics & Business Studies: one or a combination of these subjects may be chosen depending upon exam requirements. |
| The Arts | 8 | 2 periods per week each of Art, Design Technology including ICT, Drama and Food and Textiles; a non examination course. Music lessons will be available (at extra cost) to those who wish to have them in place of one of the components. |
| Critical Thinking | 1 | Non examined course. |
| Games | 2 | Non examined course followed by the rest of the year group with total integration. |
| PSHE | 1 | Non examined course in Personal, Social and Health Education. |
