The Art Department aims to provide a creative environment where each individual can meet their own artistic potential

We have excellent facilities with an art studio, ceramics room, printmaking studio, photography studio and resource room.

Curriculum
Lower School: Development of various art techniques, including painting, drawing, printmaking and ceramics.

Third Form: Further development of different specialisms learnt in Lower School in preparation for GCSE. Relevant contextual studies relating to practical work also explored in more depth.

GCSE: Pupils will be entered for the unendorsed syllabus AQA exam board. The course requirements consist of a portfolio of art work and an externally timed test. An exhibition of the GCSE work takes place in early July.

IB: The IB course is designed to equip students with essential skills required to prepare them for entry into higher education. There are two primary areas of achievement that are key to the structure of the IB visual arts course: Studio skills (the opportunity to learn how to manipulate different materials) and Investigation (enables pupils to ask challenging questions about their socio/cultural environment). An IB Exhibition takes place in March.

Visits to exhibitions both in London and locally are integral to the delivery of art education, and the art department organises workshops for local primary schools as part of the Outreach programme.
