Poetry: Bonnie

Poem written by Flyn Matheson, 4th Form pupil

I remember sitting there on the sofa
while you cooked your delicious curry.
I remember staring at the Christmas decorations
still hanging up,
Past the small steamy window,
starring out at the train tracks
(when a train went by, it would rattle the tiny flat).

Sitting on the sofa,
cosily eating biscuits and drinking tea.
Your happy smile and your caring face –
your tiny flat was my favourite place.

I remember watching films while you made my tea.

It used to be both of us,
but now it’s just me.
You’ve been gone for a whole year now;
it’s the end of the ride
all I want is you back by my side.
