The QMH Way
QMH is a vibrant, happy House that aims to provide each and every pupil with a broad learning experience both in and out of the classroom. We want all of our pupils to come here with a motivation to work and play hard, as well as embrace new challenges and opportunities. Each pupil is treated as an individual and is encouraged to pursue their passions. We are home to exceptional musicians, sportsmen and sportswomen, academics, performers and artists, and what is incredible is how well the pupils support and celebrate each other's successes. QHM is, ultimately, the best form of preparation for senior school life.
The Gardner Family
Mr Gardner (Head of Lower School and Houseparent) and Mrs Gardner (Houseparent) live in QMH with their two children Amelia (7) and Alfie (6). They are joined by Molly, a Cavalier King Charles, and Boots, the family cat.
Mr Gardner trained at Central School of Speech and Drama, where he studied Drama, Applied Theatre and Education. Since graduating, he has worked in a number of schools as a Teacher, Head of Department, Houseparent, Head of Sixth Form, and Director of Boarding. Outside his passion for education, Mr Gardner is a lifelong Portsmouth Football Club fan and several signed items can be found in his office.
Mrs Gardner is a trained actress and has graced the West End stage on many occasions, including a one year run as Leading Lady in The Mousetrap. Away from treading the boards, Mrs Gardner has worked in education as a Teacher of LAMDA, Singing Teacher and Houseparent. Mrs Gardner is a very talented singer and can often be found expertly recording new tracks in her spare time.
Alfie and Amelia attend Barrow Hills School and absolutely adore it. Alfie's favourite pastime is to dress up and become a superhero, whilst Amelia is never happier than when she is being creative and making a mess with craft stuff.
lower school production
Each year, our talented QMH pupils put on a Lower School production, each year more successful than the last. This year, our pupils gave us a show-stopping rendition of After Juliet.
After Juliet picks things up where Romeo and Juliet ended. The truce holds, governed by the Prince, but it is a tense truce. Benvolio, Romeo's best friend, is in love with Rosaline, Juliet's cousin and he actively pursues his love in hope of a happier ending. Rosaline, however, is not interested in peace and is bent on revenge for the death of her unrequited love - Romeo.
