Pre-SixthDeveloping both language skills and a unique cultural perspective
Our bespoke Pre-Sixth Course is a one-year intensive IGCSE programme, primarily intended for international students as an ideal preparation for a full Sixth Form programme at King Edward’s.
The programme has three pathways, academic, scientific and creative, in addition to art, music and drama classes, providing pupils aged 15 and 16 with an opportunity to adjust to boarding life. Our supportive and sociable houses are at the centre of school and Sixth Form life and are the framework of wellbeing for each and every one of our day and boarding students.
All Pre-sixth pupils study and relax alongside our UK day and boarding pupils are fully immersed in British education developing both language skills and a unique cultural perspective of British life whilst taking advantage of opportunities to enhance their level of spoken and written English, and undertake educational and cultural trips around the UK.
All Pre-sixth pupils access their co-curricular activities with our welcoming 5th form pupils, and are encouraged to try out a wide range of co-curricular activities and and societies to enhance their learning experiencs. Every pupil has a dedicated team to care for their well-being, including the Pre-Sixth Coordinator, their House Parent, assistant House Parent and Matron, an academic tutor, the medical centre staff and the School Counsellor. We aim to provide our pupils with a home away from home during term time, and to provide every opportunity for all to thrive within their Pre-Sixth year.
Our supportive and warm family environment provides a home from home where lifelong friendships are made, opportunities are explored and horizons are expanded as well as a space to relax, study and discover an exciting annual programme of activities and enrichment opportunities .
