Serving Our Local Community
Compassion in Service
Our school community enthusiastically demonstrates its compassion in service via a range of initiatives each year. Our pupil-led Charities Committee curates a wide range of activities, supported by our Chaplain. In 2024/2025 our primary School Charity partner is ‘Charlie’s Promise’, a locally based charity aiming to educate young people on the immeasurable impacts knife crime has on families and communities; over the school year a number of fundraising activities, including non-uniform days and awareness building events, are taking place to support Charlie’s Promise.
King Edward’s also supports a number of other local charities. With our neighbours, Surrey Hills and Surrey Heights care homes, we host a community coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support and welcome residents to our school throughout the year.
We are proud that a very significant amount of pre-used uniform has been donated to the Surrey based Stripey Stork charity, for rehoming with local families experiencing hardship. Each year, Christmas cards are designed and sold at school to support Dementia UK in a staff-led project.
Our environmental initiatives
We are mindful of our responsibilities to sustain our local, national and international environments. Our achievements and activities include our gaining of Eco-Schools England accreditation with distinction, as national recognition of our work in this area. With alumni, staff and pupils, we are also playing a leading role in the City of London’s Youth National Environment Board and we are developing further wide-ranging partnerships in this area of activity.
