29th June 2019
On a very hot Friday 28 June, 22 Old Witleians, one pupil and one member of staff joined together at West Surrey Golf Club near Godalming for the Annual Golf Day, which this year celebrated its 40th Anniversary. Starting the day with bacon rolls and coffee, the players were given a short brief by Ivor Caplin, OW Golf Rep, before setting off in their 3-ball teams.
Everybody met back in the Club House in the afternoon for well needed liquid refreshment. The awarding of the following Cups then took place:
MiG, sole 5th Form pupil, was awarded a set of golf balls for the Longest Drive as were all the Cup runners up. The winners of nearest the 5th and 16th Pin were also presented with golf balls.
This was the last Golf Day for John Attwater, Headmaster, who leaves for his new appointment at the end of July. Mr. Attwater was presented with a set of golf balls and a bottle of wine from Ivor Caplin and thanked very much for his support throughout the years.
The players enjoyed a great day and West Surrey Golf Club has already been booked for the same time next year!
