Fiona Kirton retires after 23 years

19th October 2019

Fiona Kirton retired this week after 23 years at King Edward’s Witley, the last ten of which she has been Bursaries and Charities Officer. During her time at King Edward’s, Fiona has worked with five Bursars, three Treasurers and now her fourth Head, Mrs Joanna Wright. On her final day Thursday 17 October during her leaving presentation, Fiona gave heartfelt thanks to all who had supported her over the years, with great humour and a few secrets told. In her Bursaries and Charities Officer role Fiona has helped many families secure funding to enable their children to have a wonderful boarding education at King Edward’s. Fiona recounted why she found it hard to retire, “We take on many pupils whose lives have been turned upside down through no fault of their own. They flourish in the security, care and education here and go onto universities and great careers. That is what we do well – we give children the chance to be teenagers and their families a chance to heal or manage day to day life”. We wish Fiona the best as she starts the next chapter of her life.
