Pupils from the 5th and 6th Form studying Art, travelled up to the Royal Academy and Tate Modern at the beginning February for an inspirational, cultural and colourful day out.
Eclectic and vibrant, the Art on display was a mix of both traditional and contemporary work. The exhibitions the group visited included the new Picasso and Paper exhibition and Eco-Visionaries at the RA and Dora Maar at the Tate Modern. Pupils enjoyed the wide variety of work on display giving them the opportunity to gather some invaluable research for their upcoming GCSE, IB and A-level exams which take place in the summer term.
On the journey back to school, everyone agreed we are so lucky to have these fantastic exhibitions available to us just a short train ride away from King Edward’s Witley.
The Lower 6th had a lecture last week from Professor Amelia Hadfield, Head of Politics at Surrey University, who spoke about the Extended Project Qualification and skills needed for university and beyond! Many pupils at KESW go on to complete the EPQ which allows them to have a ‘unique calling card’, as Professor Hadfield put it, which can allow pupils to stand out in this very competitive world. She also discussed how the research skills they have developed so far on the course will give them valuable experience to prepare them for University study. #EPQ #BridewellFamily...
