New Head Boy, Head Girl and Head of School one-minute Q & A

King Edward’s new Head Boy, Head Girl and Head of School were all announced this week. Each brings their own objectives and aspirations to the role. A new start, we look forward to the three Upper Sixth pupils putting their ideas into practice.
Meet and hear about their objectives over the coming year while at King Edward’s through an interview of one-minute questions

Adam Smillie – Head Boy – Grafton House

Q. When did you join King Edward’s and from where
A. In the 3rd Form. I came from a school in Belgium where my parents live.

Q. A-level or IB?
A. IB

Q. What do you enjoy about King Edward’s?
A. The international community, despite a range of different backgrounds everyone is close. I really enjoy the House rivalry – good, friendly competition.

Q. What are your plans on leaving King Edward’s?
A. I want to take a gap year and volunteer – giving something back. Then University to study physics.

Q. What is your career plan?
A. To work in quantum computing and change the world (for the better).

Deniz Dagtas – Head Girl – Tudor House

Q. When did you join King Edward’s and from where?
A. I joined last year in Lower Sixth, I come from the Philippines.

Q. A-level or IB?
A. A-level

Q. What do you enjoy about King Edward’s?
A. The community at school is amazing, so supportive. There is also a big range of activities to try, my favourite is basketball.

Q. What are your plans on leaving King Edward’s?
A. I want to study Economics at University.

Deniz Acar – Head of School – Edward House

Q. When did you join King Edward’s and where did you come from?

A. I started last year in the Lower Sixth from Bulgaria.

Q. A-level or IB?
A. IB

Q. What do you enjoy about King Edward’s?
A. The whole community! The great relationships between the Houses and the teachers. It feels like a big family!

Q. What are your plans on leaving King Edward’s?
A. I want to study either Economics or a PPE degree as I am very interested in philosophy and how the world works.

Q. What are your career objectives?
A. I want to either work in banking or back home in Bulgaria in my family business.

Head Boy Adam: “I want to make a positive change, introduce new events and generate life memories for all the pupils”

Head Girl Deniz: “Make it more attractive to girls and increase the numbers”.

Deniz Acar, Head of School: “To represent the School in the best way I can, bring in ideas debated by our pupils and increase fun things for everyone”.
