New Artist in Residence

5th November 2020

Miss Emma Trussler has joined the King Edward’s Witley Art Department as Artist in Residence.

Miss Trussler was a pupil at King Edward’s before completing her Foundation Art course at Chelsea College of Art, University of London Art. Achieving a BA in Surface Design at London College of Communication, University of Arts London and a MA in Design Fashion and Textiles at Bath Spa University. Miss Trussler has worked in Fashion Retail and Hospitality succeeding in Visual Merchandising and Management and also spent several years teaching as an English Foreign Language Teacher in Greece, Vietnam and China and travelling across Europe and Asia. For the past two years, Miss Trussler has been running her own business Emma Philippa Maeve in Bristol, attending markets and events, and running exhibitions  of her art.

The Artist in Residence role includes helping run classes and workshop for the School, and working on her own art, developing her own styles and creating new pieces. Miss Trussler said “Recycling and the ethos of sustainability is important to me therefore I hope that in some way we can introduce more of this whilst I am here. Everyone must start somewhere…The need to recycle and practise more conscious buying is needed more then ever. As an Artist in Residence, I hope to do two main things; Focus on my work and expand my portfolio and new collections, such as producing silk scarves and kaftans by the Spring/Summer and a new drawing/painting collection for Upfest.  I also want to hold Workshops for pupils and adults and work within in the Art Department supporting the Art Department team within classes and Activity Groups.”
