King Edward’s Witley supports Godalming Community Store during Harvest Festival

4th October 2021

This year, as a School we celebrated Harvest Festival appeal with two main foci, Afghanistan and The Godalming Community Store. On Sunday 3rd October we celebrated Harvest Festival in Chapel in a service led by our Chaplain Reverend James Radcliffe. Together with Barrow Hills School, this year we requested donations to The Godalming Community Store. The purpose of the Community Store is to support any local person in need of food and basics to live. The Store works closely with the Godalming Town Council and Citizens Advice Bureau to identify those in need, and is entirely reliant on donations. The store also provides a delivery service for those with limited mobility.

Furthermore, as part of their Religious Studies class, pupils Jai and Kaspar delivered donations to the Godalming Community Store. The store provided a warm welcome and pupils were able to ask questions about how the store works. Pupils were left in awe at the work they do to support the local community and how they work with referrals through schools, GP, Citizen’s advice and more. It was truly inspirational and offered a chance for pupils to speak and share about why we should help others in our local community.
