School Concert to celebrate our pupils’ musical talent

22nd December 2021

On Friday 26th November, pupils, staff, parents and families from our King Edward’s Witley community, gathered in our Chapel for the School Concert, a celebration of the musical talent in our School.

Due to Covid restrictions, the Concert was the first in two years, and it was wonderful to welcome everybody to our Chapel. With warm welcomes from our Director of Music, Mr Sliwka, and Chaplain, Reverend James Radcliffe, the concert began with our talented Orchestra playing pieces from the likes of Shostakovich and then a festive classic, Sleigh Ride.

The beautiful Orchestral pieces were followed by a total of 22 performances including, bands, Double Reed Ensembles, Vocal Solos and Ensembles, our Scholar Chamber Ensemble, Saxophone Quartet, and the Jazz Band.

Highlights included, a jazz rendition of the classic Star Wars themes, ‘Johnny B Good’ played by our one of our wonderful bands, pieces from Mozart, Gritton, Beethoven, Bach, Taylor and Telleman.

Our Music Department work tirelessly to provide a musical educational experience for our pupils, ranging from classical to modern day music. We would like to thank them for such an inspiring and uplifting School Concert.

Following the Concert, there was a reception in our Charter Hall organised by our Parents Association KESPA, with mince pies and mulled wine, enjoyed by all.
