I live in West Horsley, I was born in Cambridge (my parents were undergraduates there).
What's your favourite thing about working at King Edward's Witley?
The very strong sense of community.
What are your hobbies?
Cycling, travelling in France and dog walking.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Be a Classics teacher (although I didn’t become one until I was 44!).
What is the funniest thing a pupil has ever said to you?
“Olive oil is sort of the Swiss Army knife of Mycenaean Greece isn’t it Sir?”
What's your favourite book/movie/song?
Movie – “A Very Long Engagement” set around the First World War, and Brittany, starring Audrey Tautou, as a young disabled woman searching relentlessly for her childhood sweetheart.
Book – “A Tale of Two Cities” by Charles Dickens, which is the only English novel I’ve read more than once.
We are delighted that Longacre School will join King Edward’s and Barrow Hills within the Bridewell Royal Hospital Foundation, with our merger being intended to be completed by January 2025. Read more around this merger here
We finished Friday with an evening of creativity at school. Our first exhibition from our artist in residence @marnieglue_art opened in our public gallery whilst our performers in our final musical showcase of this half term were in full voice in our music performance space.
