Friday Feature: Mr Tom Campbell

20th April 2023

What is your current position at King Edward's Witley?

Head of Middle School.

How long have you worked at King Edward's Witley?

7 Years.

Where do you live and where were you born?

I live on site, but was born in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

What's your favourite thing about working at King Edward's Witley?

The genuine diversity, cohesive community that we have. Everybody has the opportunity to be the best version of themselves whilst developing relationships which are meaningful and caring – I’m proud to be a member of staff here.

What are your hobbies?

I love all sports, but especially tennis, clay pigeon shooting and Formula 1 (watching, not driving!). I am also a huge Geography nut and love to go visiting new places with Mrs Campbell and our Dog Daisy!

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A Formula One driver for sure. But, believe it or not – a teacher! So I am very lucky that I do a job I always wanted to do!

What is the funniest thing a pupil has ever said to you?

So many things. I think my favourite was “Sir, can you tell Daniel that an Alsatian is a person from Albania?” To which I naturally replied – “no can do – that’s an Albanian.”

What's your favourite book/movie/song?

I love music! My favourite song of all time is “Time to Pretend” by MGMT, and I love the Harry Potter Films despite the questionable acting. I think my favourite book is an Atlas – who doesn’t want to look at all the places in the world they could go to visit!
