Friday Feature: Alfredo Ruiz Resendiz

30th June 2023

Introduce yourself - who you are, where you live and where you were born

My name is Alfredo Ruiz Resendiz and I am 17 years old. I was born in a small lime producing town called Martinez de la Torre in the Gulf of Mexico, and I have lived in the UK for 2 years now.

What qualities do you think a Head Pupil should have and what do you have to offer as Head Boy?

I think that a Head pupil needs to be a communicator in order to provide that bridge between the pupils and staff that we need in our community. As well as having the intangible art of being a leader and inspiring peers through charisma and motivation to achieve their goals. Therefore, I always try to motivate everyone even with something as simple as a smile.

Summarise yourself as Head Boy in 3 words

Passionate, determined, and cheerful.

How long have you been a pupil at King Edward's Witley?

I have been at KESW since September 2021 when I joined the Pre-sixth course, so this is my second year!

What's your favourite thing about studying at King Edward's Witley?

My favorite thing about studying here is the friendships that I have made. My friends have become my family and they are the thing that I most value. KESW provides a vibrant environment that allows everyone to find their place and feel welcome in the community quite swiftly, as it happened to me.

What's your favourite memory from your time here at King Edward's Witley?

I would say it was definitely last winter when it started snowing in the evening and we all went out of the houses and started dancing and playing in the snow whilst singing Christmas Carols.

What are your hobbies?

I love playing volleyball – I used to play at least 2 hours a day everyday back home. I love baking as well because it relaxes me more than anything (even though it is sadly not my forte).

What do you want to be when you leave King Edward's Witley?

I want to go to university in London to hopefully read something related to Economics which is my favorite subject in IB.

What is your favourite film/book/song?

My favorite book is the Great Gatsby which really got me into reading. I would not say I have a favourite movie but my favourite TV series is the White Lotus, and my favourite singer is Lana del Rey.
