Old Wit Wednesday: Roselyn Bunhu

21st December 2023

Today we hear about Old Witleian, Roselyn Bunhu, who shares her experience of tackling inequality in maternity healthcare. Read below to find out more about her fantastic work.

“Today I am feeling very grateful for being awarded a grant from the Health Foundry to help tackle health inequalities within Southwark and Lambeth. I was part of an Innovation Day with other community groups and leaders to help progress my webapp idea, by providing pregnancy wellness to Black and Mixed Heritage women holistically, giving access to exercise, cultural nutrition, parent education and mental wellbeing. This will help create a space for my community and be represented, get trusted information, which will help to feel more empowered and healthier in their pregnancy journey and beyond!Being a part of this experience has been hugely beneficial to me, as I was involved in great and informative discussions of the what the ‘user journey’ would look like, breaking down what the value is of what I am delivering and how community groups and leaders could help with their knowledge and experience especially in the area of user engagement.I met some really inspiring people who are doing amazing work and I would highly recommend reaching out to your local community groups and leaders who know what their service users need and want, and how best to bring your innovation idea to a reality within the community to achieve the best results for everyone”.
