❄️❄️ With young King Edward looking on, a little flurry of snow reminds us that children will always find happiness and human connection in simple moments of surprise, friendship and play.
Let it snow. Let us play.

Earlier in the autumn term, we were delighted to welcome Dr Connar Rowan, from the prestigious Neils Bohr Institute, to King Edward’s to deliver an excellent talk to our young physicists.
Dr Rowan outlined his research into black holes and gravitational waves and, developed ideas through an engaging Q&A with our pupils, as they prepare for university applications.
Part of a broader Bridewell programme of visiting experts, inspiring events such as these are invaluable for expanding minds with refined knowledge that goes beyond the theory, encouraging critical engagement and further igniting a passions for exploration.

👩🏾🔬🕵️♀️ Murder Mystery Science Night 👨🔬🧪
Bringing learning to life, last week 20 pupils from our Lower School (Queen Mary House) took part in a thrilling Murder Mystery Science Night hosted by our brilliant Upper Sixth STEM Ambassadors.
Working in teams, pupils were challenged to solve the mysterious death of a famous scientist by analysing the evidence. They carried out a range of forensic investigations — including fingerprint analysis, chromatography of pen samples, letter analysis, and flame tests of metal compounds found on the suspect’s clothing — before presenting their findings on a poster.
A huge thank you to our STEM Ambassadors for leading such a creative and engaging evening, to our science technicians for preparing and organising the practical activities, and to the teachers who supported the event.

Surf’s up! 🌊 Our pupils recently travelled to North Devon for an unforgettable surfing adventure - one of the many ways life at King Edward’s Witley goes beyond the classroom. Our co‑curricular programme is designed to inspire growth, build confidence and create lasting memories.
If you’d like to learn more about the exceptional opportunities we offer, book your personal tour at kesw.org/admissions or contact our team at admissions@kesw.org or call +44 (0)1428 686 735.

This morning, our community came together for a Service of Remembrance to honour the sacrifice and service of those who have defended our freedoms and our way of life.
A poignant reading of the names of the Old Witleans who died in World Wars I and II was followed by a moving rendition of ‘The Last Post’ performed by one of our excellent music scholars, signalling the start of a two-minute silence broken by the ‘Reveille’. A thought provoking service was led by Reverend James Radcliffe, with uplifting and reflective choral performances from the King Edward’s choir.
Our final hymn together, ‘I vow to thee my country:
‘The love that never falters,
The love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted
The final sacrifice!
‘At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.

Last week we were delighted to welcome Sir Jeremy Hunt, MP for Godalming and Ash to King Edward’s Witley for an engaging Q&A session with our Sixth Form, Academic Scholars and Politics & Economics pupils.
Drawing on his experience at the highest levels of government, Sir Jeremy reflected on the UK’s enduring influence in tackling global challenges - from European security and democracy to migration, trade and climate change. In vibrant conversation, our pupils respectfully posed insightful and challenging questions, exchanged opinions, and acquitted themselves admirably.
Interactions like these are invaluable: thought provoking, strengthening political and social literacy, and encouraging critical engagement with the world beyond the classroom.

Congratulations to all pupils recently elected to School Council as announced by Mr Corran, Deputy Head, this morning.
We are in no doubt that you will be excellent role models: setting the tone of our pupil body, promoting a disciplined and kind atmosphere, championing great initiatives and working with all our pupils and senior teams to ensure that every voice is heard.
We eagerly await your positive, collective impact, and look forward to you representing your peers in this important forum throughout this forthcoming academic year.
