An important lesson in Form and Function - our 4th Form pupils have been exploring biomimicry-inspired design through the development of 3D printed phone holders, taking cues from nature and organic forms to inform their creative thinking.

Using industry-standard CAD software, Onshape, pupils have independently designed and modelled their own products, exploring how aesthetics and ergonomics can be balanced with clear functional requirements.

Careful consideration has been given to key design constraints such as access to charging ports, speaker positioning, stability, and overall user interaction, ensuring each outcome is both purposeful and refined.

Working within our fully equipped, modern Design & Technology classrooms, pupils are developing confidence in iterative design, digital modelling, and problem-solving - applying real-world design thinking throughout their projects.

If you would like to explore pupil work in action, we warmly invite you to our Open Morning on Saturday 9th May, where you can tour the facilities, speak with our dedicated staff, and see the breadth of learning within Design & Technology.

Brilliant futures powered by Human Intelligence – empowered by Bridewell AI

“This is a powerful opportunity for student voice to influence inclusive, engaging digital innovation.” — John Towers MBE, Bridewell Royal Hospital Foundation

Continuing work with our AI for Good research partners at the University of Surrey and Royal Holloway, University of London, we were excited to kick off the next iteration of Bridewell AI research and development this week.

Through ‘real life’ human-centric research with Bridewell educators and pupils, we are co-designing and shaping best practice for safe, ethical and inclusive use of AI in education. Bridewell AI is at the vanguard of powerfully integrating all important ‘human skills’ and values with leading edge technology in the classroom and is already being used to by our pupils and educators to support accelerated critical thinking, study skills and knowledge development.

Our next phase focusses on differentiated learning, adaptation, and inclusive digital innovation. We will be profiling learning differences and examining how bespoke, adaptive, teacher-led AI learning combined with timely support can enhance learning pace and drive uplift in educational outcomes for all Bridewell pupils.

🏏Girl’s cricket continues to grow at King Edward’s

Since 2021, our girls’ cricket programme has gone from strength to strength in both scale and quality.

It has evolved from a purely softball pathway to a structured pathway with a strong emphasis on hardball cricket.

Last season was our largest to date, featuring 70 fixtures across nine teams, with 35 hardball matches and four established hardball sides. Key successes during this period include a U13 softball county finals appearance, strong wins against sides such as Charterhouse U14A and Tormead U15A, and competitive fixtures against schools like Guildford High and St John’s Leatherhead.

In 2026, our focus is on consolidating the hardball pathway across all age groups, continuing to expand fixture opportunities, supporting player development, and ensuring a smooth transition for new players entering the game.

From 43 fixtures and no hardball cricket to a nine-team, predominantly hardball programme reflects substantial progress and a strong foundation for continued success.

The edges are flying, and so is girls’ cricket at King Edward’s!

At King Edward’s Witley, we give young musicians the skills, support and opportunities to grow. Andrew has embraced every experience from ensemble work to instrumental lessons, and it’s been a joy to support his musical journey.
