Mixed Cross-Country

14th December 2022

We have, once again, managed to exceed all expectations in the cross-country season. Firstly, we attended the Waverley Championships which resulted in top 10 finishes!

In the U13 age category, Thomas Ninian equalled the best place finish we have every achieved at the event by finishing 2nd. All other runners finished well up with the field with Seb Groves taking 9th and all other runners finishing in the top 25. The U13 girls all seemed to run at an incredibly similar pace with all five runners placing between 18th and 25th, with Emily Craggs the first finisher for King Edward’s.

Moving into the Junior boys event, we saw an extraordinary result with Sandro Lomtadze matching Thomas Ninian by finishing in 2nd place, Joe Swift placed 6th, Elliot Smith 7th, Harry Hastie 9th, Owen Angell 11th and Dexter Rich in 23rd place. This meant that, for the first time, we took home the team prize for the Junior Boys age category. The girls Junior team also faired well in a race that had more runners than any other race. Jocelyn Earl led the girls home with a 13th place finish.

Finally, our Intermediate boys saw Dominic Gervascio-Hubsch take 9th place, Freddie Alexander 11th, an injury hindered Pfumo in 17th, Mattie Butler in 20th and Edward Brain finishing 27th.

We then entered the annual St Edmund’s event which resulted in Thomas and Sandro once again taking silver medals with the U13 boys side taking home the team title.
