Welcoming Mr Ben Edwards as our new Director of Sport

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Ben Edwards as our new Director of Sport, from September 2025. Ben is currently Director of Sport at Kingston Grammar School, having previously held roles including Director of Sport and Academy Sport Director during his lengthy and successful tenure at Reed’s School.

On his appointment, Ben noted ‘I am privileged to have the opportunity to follow Phil Miller as Director of Sport at King Edward’s. The School’s ambitions, and the opportunities afforded by its place within the Bridewell Royal Hospital family of schools are exciting and I look forward to starting in September and leading the further development of all areas of sporting provision at the School, with colleagues in our sports department and across King Edward’s’.

Joanna Wright, Head, King Edward’s, explained ‘We attracted a very high number of highly experienced candidates for this important role at King Edward’s. In recent years our School has supported an Olympic Gold Medallist and international athletes on their journeys, whilst also offering an enviable range of activities for pupils to enjoy at all levels in a wide range of sports; participation levels at King Edward’s comfortably exceed comparative benchmarks. Ben’s impact at both Kingston Grammar School and Reed’s School has been hugely significant and we are very pleased that Ben will bring his extensive teaching, coaching and leadership experience to our School in September’.
