Our next series of ‘Explore Your Passions’ teatime taster sessions for year 5 and year 6/7 pupils is now open for booking, following the success of our sessions earlier this year. These fun and informative after-school taster sessions at King Edward’s are in a range of subject areas, starting after half term – there are 3 sessions for each age group.

Year 5, 6 and 7 pupils from local prep and primary schools are invited to join us for fun and informative after-school taster sessions at King Edward’s. Starting after half term, sessions are offered in a range of subject areas, including Maths, Food Science, English, German, Business/Economics and Physics. There are 3 sessions for each age group. Session dates are as below:
Year 5 pupils:
Thursday 4th June – Maths
Thursday 11th June – Food Science
Monday 15th June – English
Year 6 and 7 pupils:
Monday 8th June – German
Monday 22nd June – Business/Economics
Monday 29th June - Physics
Sessions run for an hour (5.15pm – 6.15pm) on Monday and Thursday evenings, and parents are very welcome to stay here, with any younger siblings, at our Piccadilly Café or drop off and pick up.

A very busy weekend out and about for our pupils and staff! Thank you to everyone who visited us and @barrowhillsschool at @chiddstock and made their own smoothies on Saturday whilst New Horizon delighted the crowds with our own Alexandrina on bass & Harry on drums and to Go Godalming for facilitating an excellent interval performance by our band during The Friary Band’s concert at the bandstand on Sunday. Our Interview Experience Day provided pupils with invaluable opportunities to develop confidence, communication skills and self-belief in a professional setting.
Feedback from our volunteer parents was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the warmth, confidence and excellent preparation shown by our pupils, describing the event as “super organised”, “very slick” and “a pleasure to be part of”.
Most importantly, pupils left the experience having developed a deeper understanding of how to present themselves authentically, prepare thoroughly and communicate with confidence under pressure. Reflections included learning the importance of research, body language, resilience and believing in their own strengths.

⛵️ Congratulations to Joe on being selected for the Great Britain Sailing Team for the Junior World Championships in Lake Garda this summer. 🇬🇧 🇮🇹
Competing against 45 boats over two demanding weekends, Joe and his helm Gregory were selected as first reserves for the Cadet Class BR team after showing great skill across a wide range of sailing conditions. 🌊💨

Bridewell brings ‘AI & Inclusive Excellence’ to Surrey Governors
Last week, pupils, staff and partners from Bridewell Schools presented to Chairs of Governors from across Surrey and beyond, showcasing what meaningful, ethical AI in education can look like.
At the heart of the evening were Year 8 students from Barrow Hills School, who have spent 2025 working alongside PhD research teams from the Universities of Surrey and Royal Holloway. Together, they’ve co-developed an AI model designed to strengthen critical thinking and deepen knowledge acquisition in subjects such as English and Science.
This work has been led by John Towers MBE, working in collaboration with the ‘AI for Good’ initiative. Alongside him, Olivier Hinds, Bridewell alumnus and founder of United Projects, has developed the safe, closed AI system now being used across Bridewell Schools.
What sets this approach apart is its integrity: a human-in-the-loop model, co-designed with students and teachers, placing inclusion, safety and educational purpose at its core.
The highlight? Students themselves led a live demonstration of the platform in action, and confidently handled a wide-ranging Q&A from governors.

An important lesson in Form and Function - our 4th Form pupils have been exploring biomimicry-inspired design through the development of 3D printed phone holders, taking cues from nature and organic forms to inform their creative thinking.
Using industry-standard CAD software, Onshape, pupils have independently designed and modelled their own products, exploring how aesthetics and ergonomics can be balanced with clear functional requirements.
Careful consideration has been given to key design constraints such as access to charging ports, speaker positioning, stability, and overall user interaction, ensuring each outcome is both purposeful and refined.
Working within our fully equipped, modern Design & Technology classrooms, pupils are developing confidence in iterative design, digital modelling, and problem-solving - applying real-world design thinking throughout their projects.

Continuing work with our AI for Good research partners at the University of Surrey and Royal Holloway, University of London, we were excited to kick off the next iteration of Bridewell AI research and development this week.
Through ‘real life’ human-centric research with Bridewell educators and pupils, we are co-designing and shaping best practice for safe, ethical and inclusive use of AI in education. Bridewell AI is at the vanguard of powerfully integrating all important ‘human skills’ and values with leading edge technology in the classroom and is already being used to by our pupils and educators to support accelerated critical thinking, study skills and knowledge development.
Our next phase focusses on differentiated learning, adaptation, and inclusive digital innovation. We will be profiling learning differences and examining how bespoke, adaptive, teacher-led AI learning combined with timely support can enhance learning pace and drive uplift in educational outcomes for all Bridewell pupils.
