This morning, our community came together for a Service of Remembrance to honour the sacrifice and service of those who have defended our freedoms and our way of life.

A poignant reading of the names of the Old Witleans who died in World Wars I and II was followed by a moving rendition of β€˜The Last Post’ performed by one of our excellent music scholars, signalling the start of a two-minute silence broken by the β€˜Reveille’. A thought provoking service was led by Reverend James Radcliffe, with uplifting and reflective choral performances from the King Edward’s choir.

Our final hymn together, β€˜I vow to thee my country:

β€˜The love that never falters,
The love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted
The final sacrifice!

β€˜At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.

Last week we were delighted to welcome Sir Jeremy Hunt, MP for Godalming and Ash to King Edward’s Witley for an engaging Q&A session with our Sixth Form, Academic Scholars and Politics & Economics pupils.

Drawing on his experience at the highest levels of government, Sir Jeremy reflected on the UK’s enduring influence in tackling global challenges - from European security and democracy to migration, trade and climate change. In vibrant conversation, our pupils respectfully posed insightful and challenging questions, exchanged opinions, and acquitted themselves admirably.

Interactions like these are invaluable: thought provoking, strengthening political and social literacy, and encouraging critical engagement with the world beyond the classroom.

πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ …and even a bike helmet!

Every item will be helping young people play, move, and belong through sport.
