“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”
- Norman Vincent Peale ✨
Amidst the whirl of Christmas preparations, our pupils have headed home to loved ones, while staff quietly finalise plans for a busy and exciting term ahead.
As the countdown to Christmas Day begins and joy fills the air, from all at King Edward’s Witley we wish our whole School community - past and present, near or far - a joyful Christmas filled with love, peace and togetherness. 💙🎄

The recent production presenting excepts of Flesh by Rob Drummond was thought-provoking, unsettling, and resonant. Brilliantly directed by Nikki Plowman, our Director of Drama and presented in the round, 21 of our young actors took to the stage in a piece of theatre that stretched them creatively and technically.
A truly immersive experience for our audiences, this was an exceptional production that we will remember for some time to come.
Bravo, cast and crew and a huge thank you to all colleagues and friends of KESW Drama for your generous support, skill, patience and good humour.

A highlight of the King Edward’s and Barrow Hills Sporting calendar, this morning our year 7&8 pupils got stuck into our annual Turkey Trot! Two sports teachers, one dressed as a large inflatable turkey 🦃 and one as a Christmas cracker hotfooted it over the fields between the schools with pupils in hot pursuit. Then, the challenge of finding them hidden in the undergrowth… which proved surprisingly difficult in spite of the substantial outfits! Hot chocolate for all to wrap up a fun morning. What’s not to love? 🎄☕️ #bridewellschools #turkeytrot #christmastradition
The festive season is officially here at School! ✨
Elizabeth House triumphed in the inter-house Christmas Quiz, while our QMH Lower School pupils enjoyed their own internal festive quiz - proving that house spirit shines at every level.
Hampers brimming with board games, popcorn, hot chocolate, candy sticks, Christmas coins, baubles, and gingerbread houses added the perfect seasonal touch for our winners. 🎄

We were delighted to attend the City of London Corporation’s Silent Ceremony at Guildhall, one of the City’s oldest civic traditions, marking the installation of the new Lord Mayor, Alderwoman Dame Susan Langley DBE.
Our Sixth Form pupils, Theo and Kyle joined us for a private tour of the Great Hall, a presentation on the historic Livery Companies, and the chance to meet City professionals offering guidance and mentorship. It was a unique opportunity to see the City’s institutions in action and experience the leadership, responsibility and tradition that shape them.
Our connections with the City of London bring history to life for our students and open doors to experiences that extend learning far beyond the classroom.

Our skiers delivered an exceptional performance at the Surrey Schools Championships in Aldershot, demonstrating impressive skill, focus and teamwork. The squad secured first place in the Y7–9 Mixed category and went on to outperform the senior teams, earning the overall Secondary Schools Shield.🏆
A standout achievement that cements their place as one of the strongest school ski teams in the county.

We are very proud to announce that via our pupil led Charities Committee, this year’s King Edward`s nominated school charity is the Surrey Coalition of Disabled People. @surreycoalition
This week we were delighted to welcome Rachel, Megan and the wonderfully charming black labrador, Rowley to KESW, where they led an inspiring assembly introducing pupils to the Coalition’s work. As a user-led organisation run by Disabled people for Disabled people, the Surrey Coalition empowers individuals to live active, independent and fully included lives. Their advocacy, digital inclusion programmes, mental health networks and community initiatives are transforming lives across Surrey.
Activities in support of the charity have already begun with last week’s non uniform day, and continues today with a Krispy Kreme doughnut fundraiser, raising both awareness and vital funds for the charity.
Here’s to a meaningful and energised new partnership rooted in compassion, service and community spirit.💙

The recent Berlin visit by our language, history and art students reminds us how closely art, history, politics, psychology, architecture, sport and society are deeply interwoven.
Visiting the DDR Museum, Berlinische and East Side Gallery, which is the longest standing section of the Berlin wall, the Reichstag building designed by British architect Norman Foster, Stasi prison, and the Olympic Stadium, this was a powerful trip for our pupils learning to understand some world changing moments of the past- and in so doing, their place in the future. 🌍
