☀️ Bright skies and warm spring sunshine added to the delight of visitors to AppArt at King Edward’s over the long Easter weekend as upwards of 2000 folk from near and far followed the sculpture trail through our beautifully grounds, and immersed themselves in the vibrant creativity of the gallery exhibition. AppArt runs every day from 10am-4pm until Friday 17th April and is free to all.

The sun’s still shining, so why come and explore the incredible talent of professional and emerging artists at one of South East England’s most celebrated art and sculpture events hosted at King Edward’s Witley. No booking required. Coffee shop open! ☕️

This Saturday, the brilliant AppArt returns to King Edward’s, Witley where it all began. A free event for all, AppArt has become one of South East England’s most celebrated art and sculpture events, showcasing a mix of professional and emerging artists.

Exhibitors from our own community include Marnie Glue, artist in residence, Paul Holland (teacher) and Phoebe (3rd Form) at KESW, Laura Douse - a Bridewell parent, and Ruth Wheeler, Head of Art at Barrow Hills who exhibits alongside her pupils Ben and Rose.

The full exhibition opens to the public this Saturday (4 April) and runs daily from 10am - 4pm until Friday 17 April, offering visitors the chance to explore a stunning collection of artwork. ‘Boarders’ Big Trip’

A very large and enthusiastic proportion of our boarding pupils and staff took advantage of an extensive cultural visit to London recently. Pupils embraced the opportunity to experience Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures - Red Shoes at Sadler’s Wells, Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at the Barbican, and travelled back 2000 years with VR and cutting edge tech to immerse themselves in the Last Days of Pompeii at Excel London.

A brilliant evening for all and a great example of the exciting and diverse weekend activities offered within our boarding programme at King Edward’s.

We were delighted to welcome pupils from St Ives School Haslemere to explore the App Art Sculpture Trail, hosted in the beautiful grounds here at King Edward’s Witley. Guided by our Art Department they all enjoyed finding out more about the materials, and drawing their own pictures of the sculptures. What a talented bunch!

The App Art Sculpture Trail and Exhibition is open to all 4th and the 18th April, 10am to 4pm, with free entry, at King Edward’s - more information is available at www.appartonline.co.uk

We were delighted to welcome pupils from St Ives School Haslemere to explore the App Art Sculpture Trail, hosted in the beautiful grounds here at King Edward’s Witley. Guided by our Art Department they all enjoyed finding out more about the materials, and drawing their own pictures of the sculptures. What a talented bunch!

🏙️ We were incredibly grateful to AXA for opening their offices and allowing our pupils to experience working life in a busy City office.

Our pupils enjoyed a tour of their amazing offices on 16th floor with scenic views across the City. They met with AXA and AXA XL apprentices and interns who shared their varied career journeys and gave tips and insights into careers in insurance and risk management before meeting The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), the professional body dedicated to building trust in the insurance and financial planning profession.

The CII team ran an interactive game of risk competition for our pupils to experience the kind of critical thinking decisions professionals risk managers need to make during times of crisis. An incredible, work experience and networking opportunity for all.

Yesterday in our Bridewell Speaker Series we were delighted to welcome back a panel of our Old Witleians to reflect on experiences gained during their careers as workforces continue to diversify.

Their stories were inspiring and insightful and led to some brilliant questions from our pupils. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this event, and to Miss Sophie Quiney, our Head of Science for her expert moderation of our lively discussion.
