Music flourishes outside the classroom with some twenty choirs, orchestras and specialist instrumental ensembles from Chamber Music to Rock Bands. A carefully structured programme enables pupils of all abilities and aspirations to perform, from informal showcase concerts and workshops to masterclasses and large-scale concerts. In addition annual instrumental and vocal competitions are held for soloists and ensembles. Annual House Music competitions, Battle of the Bands and Musician of the Year bring the school community together. The Music and Drama Departments regularly collaborate in school productions. Previous productions have included Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story and our 2020 production will be Bugsy Malone.
With our strong links with the City of London pupils often sing and play in the City for important events. Chapel Choir has an enviable reputation and sings termly Evensong at Cathedrals. Recently Chapel Choir has sung in Guildford, Chichester, Winchester and Westminster Cathedrals. Tours abroad have been to Venice in 2016, Rome in 2018 and in 2020 we are returning to Venice.
There are termly Culture Club trips to inspire our pupils. Recent trips have included Symphonic Queen at the Royal Albert Hall, Carmen at the Royal Opera House and Rigoletto at Glyndebourne.
