Make a gift

Why make a gift

Our unique heritage and place place among British co-educational independent schools means that we can provide the best preparation for adult life to a wider range of young people than almost any other institution. King Edward’s creates a foundation for life both here and now, and for the future, but we could not have done this without your support over the years. By giving so generously you enable us to provide life-changing opportunities to disadvantaged young people in need of a boarding style of education.  All monies donated will support Foundation pupils, the improvement of our facilities or will be put towards educational resources. If you have a preference for how your gift is used, please specify when making your donation.  We acknowledge all our donors on our annual Donor Roll published in the Bridewell Foundation Report each December.

Donation options

We offer a number of ways to make a gift to The Bridewell Foundation. Recurring gifts are always welcome as they enable the School to be proactive with our support for Foundation pupils and future improvement plans. We would request that UK tax payers consider opting in to Gift Aid as doing so allows the School to reclaim 25% on your gift.

Legacy gifts

Legacy gifts have been a vital part of keeping our founding mission alive for centuries.  Unrestricted legacies to The Bridewell Foundation allow us to support the areas of greatest need in the School – now and in the future.  However, we do appreciate that you may wish to stipulate a specific area for support, in which case it would be helpful to discuss this with the Development team to ensure that your wishes can be met. As a registered charity, a legacy to The Bridewell Foundation is, in most instances, tax free and you may you qualify for a reduced rate of inheritance tax.  We invite you to complete a Legacy Intention form and forward it to the Development team.

Matched giving

Donating through your payroll is one of the most effective ways to donate to charity and gives your employer a chance to match fund your donation. Please contact the Development team for more information.

Donating from overseas

United States based donors may donate to ‘King Edward’s Witley’ through the British Schools and Universities Foundation Inc at www.bsuf.org.
