I am Assistant Director of Music at King Edward’s and Barrow Hills School and Assistant Housemaster of Grafton.
I am from Brighton and spent most of my life there before heading off to Bath to study at University. Whilst in Bath, I met my wife in Bristol and we married in 2022. We now live on site as part of my role as Assistant Housemaster.
I am a lover of history and KESW has a rich and diverse history to tell. My wife used to be the archivist at the school and it was always interesting to find out so much about the school’s beginnings and right up to the present day.
On a choir tour to Rome in 2018, a pupil refused to have their breakfast on the minibus to the airport, because we didn’t have any plates. The same pupil then wrote to the Pope asking if he was able to join us for pizza after we had sung at the Vatican. Amazingly, he actually got a reply from one of the Pope’s private secretaries respectfully declining.
I have to say my mum and dad, they have been the best role models I have had and without their support, I would not have gone into teaching. I would have pursued being a musician and I would not be the person I am today.
Singing is my main instrument and I find it is the hardest and most rewarding, as a good singer can convey a lot of emotion and drama. As well as singing, I also play the organ and piano.
My honeymoon was in Greece, and Tarry and I both loved the Greek islands and want to go back to visit as many times as we can. Hopefully, in the Easter holidays, we will visit Kefalonia.
